Candy is a past President of ISSA International, where she served two terms as president of the association and 19 years as a Board Director. During her tenure, she spearheaded the development of the Cyber Security Career Lifecycle, which aligns with essential components of an AI readiness strategy. Additionally, she holds the distinction of being the founding President of the ISSA Education and Research Foundation. Notably, Candy played a pivotal role in establishing the annual ISSA/ESG research project on the State of the Cybersecurity Profession, a vital initiative aimed at understanding the global challenges faced by cybersecurity professionals, particularly in relation to AI Safety and executive cybersecurity services. Furthermore, she provided strategic cybersecurity guidance that has influenced the industry. Candy was inducted into the ISSA Hall of Fame in 2008.
Candy's volunteerism remains active, as demonstrated by her involvement with the CSA AI Research Working group and the Safety Initiative, which emphasizes AI Safety. Candy has contributed to various working group's papers, including "AI Organizational Core Responsibilities," "AI Model Risk Management Framework," "Don't Panic! Getting Real About AI Governance," and "AI Risk Management - Thinking Beyond Regulatory Boundaries." Her efforts align with developing an effective AI readiness strategy and providing strategic cybersecurity guidance while ensuring robust executive cybersecurity services.
